Dawn Schroeder - Swim Coach
Dawn Schroeder is a seasoned swim coach, educator, and endurance athlete with deep roots in Santa Barbara's aquatic community. A two-time U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier (1984, 1988), she competed collegiately at UCLA and later at UCSB, where she earned her BA in sociology along with teaching and coaching credentials.
Dawn's coaching journey includes roles with Santa Barbara Masters Swimming, where she leads clinics and open water training sessions. As a Masters swimmer, she has achieved numerous top finishes at national competitions.
Beyond the pool, Dawn co-founded Moms in Motion and Momentum 4 Life, programs designed to empower women through triathlon and fitness training. A long-time educator in the Goleta Union School District, she brings a holistic approach to coaching, emphasizing both physical and personal development.
Whether guiding swimmers in the pool or mentoring athletes on land, Dawn is dedicated to fostering a supportive and high-performance environment for all.
Mark Stori – Swim Coach
Mark is a highly experienced swim coach and accomplished Masters athlete, currently leading Santa Barbara Masters Swimming and coaching with UC Santa Barbara. With over 20 years in the sport, Mark specializes in technique-focused training for swimmers of all levels—from beginners to national-level athletes.
He began his coaching career in the 1990s with Dallas Aquatic Masters, where he also developed a learn-to-swim program. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2015, he has revitalized the local Masters scene and produced destination swim camps that combine pool and open water training.
At UCSB, Mark has coached numerous conference champions and record-setters, contributing to a culture of excellence. As an athlete, he was team captain at the University of Iowa, a national level swimmer, and a multiple-time Masters National Champion.
Mark’s coaching has earned him national recognition, including the 2019 USMS Kerry O'Brien Coaches Award and 2023 Southern Pacific Coach of the Year. He is passionate about creating inclusive, high-performance swim environments—and getting people excited about the water.
